The South African Revenue Services (SARS) has attached the assets of the Tswaing local municipality over a R30 million tax debt. On Friday, the revenue collector said the North West municipality, which covers the towns of Delareyville, Sanieshof and Ottosdal, submitted returns to SARS but failed to make any payments for Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE), the Skills Development Levy (SDL) and the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF). Police in the Northern Cape have arrested Five suspects following theft of Transnet contact cables worth R150 000-00 near Windsorton. According to the Police Media Release, the alleged theft happened on the night of Monday, 23 August 2021. On Wednesday, 25 August 2021 at about 05:30 the team spotted a suspicious looking Orange Ford Wildtrack bakkie close to Christiana and started following it onto the N12 North. The Potchefstroom Regional Court set a trial date on the fraud and theft case against the former Executive Mayor of JB Marks Local Municipality in Potchefstroom, Kgotso Khumalo and others to 11 October 2021. The magistrate also confirmed that the trial will be conducted at the Ventersdorp Regional Court. Special Investigating Unit (SIU) investigators, with the assistance of the Hawks, have raided the offices of the Ratlou Local Municipality in the North West, after the municipality failed to cooperate with a SIU investigation. The Atamaleng Magistrate’s Court granted the SIU a warrant to raid the offices of the local municipality on Wednesday.
