Petrol cost is going up on Wednesday by 26 cents. The principal reasons behind the fuel increase is that of the weakening and devaluation of the South African Rand, the currency which has deteriorated from an average R12.51 to R13.29 to the dollar; a decrease for the period in the price of crude oil and a decrease in the price of petroleum products.

The Automobile Association of South Africa predicted that the costs of petrol will soar by 26 cents on Wednesday. Also the South African Minister of Energy, Mr Jeff Radebe announced on Sunday that the prices of petrol will rocket by 26 cents on Wednesday. This is bad news for South African motorists as the petrol prices was already at an unprecedented and unsurpassed levels after June’s increase of a whooping 82 cents a litre. Wednesday’s increase is expected to bring petrol price to a record R16. 00 a litre.

The fuel adjustment for the month of July 2018 will be as follows:

    • petrol (93 Octane, ULP and LRP) 26c/l increase
    • petrol (95 Octane,ULP and LRP) 23c/l increase
    • diesel (0.05%sulphur) 26c/l increase
    • diesel (0.005% sulphur) 24c/l increase
    • illuminating paraffin (wholesale) 22c/l increase
    • SMNRP for IP: 30 c/l increase and maximum LPGas Retail Price: 37 c/kg increase.

South African motorists are anxiously waiting to hear and see the fuel prices plan for different areas and regions in due course.
