President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, Friday 22 June 2018; descended in the town of Gwanda in Matebeleland south province where he addressed the crowd in an electric mood at Phelandaba stadium.
Mnangagwa took over from former statesman and icon Robert Gabriel Mugabe after a smart bloodless coup in Zimbabwe last year in November. Mugabe was in power for 37years.

The President said that the new dispensation is founded on servant leadership and that the power exercised comes from the people and the people have the power to remove leadership that does not serve them.
This is part of the President’s voyage of all the country’s provinces as he amasses support ahead of the harmonised elections on 30 July 2018. In all his visits to other provinces, Mnangagwa has focused his attention on economic factors, which includes visiting companies that had closed up to ensure they resume operations. He is on a mission to resurrect the country from its economic quagmire.
On Thursday President Mnangagwa was in Mashonaland Central province where he visited Bindura University of Science Education and Eureka Gold Mine.
The previous week he was in Masvingo where he visited Cold Storage Company’s (CSC) plant and Mashava Mine.The CSC plant used to be the single prodigious employer in Masvingo city with a total of 4000 permanent and contract employees before it halted its operations years ago. Also Mashava Mine ceased its operations after the Shabanie-Mashava Mines plunged into difficulties.
President Mnangagwa toured Sable Chemicals near Kwekwe earlier this month to get an appreciation of the challenges that are being faced by Zimbabwe’s top dressing fertiliser producer. In his address at Sable Chemicals, President ED Mnangagwa said the opening of all closed companies was one of the paramount objectives of the new dispensation.
President Mnangagwa launched the command agriculture programme where he handed over about 600 cattle to A1, A2 and communal farmers at the Gwanda Show Grounds before proceeding to address the bumper crowd at Phelendaba Stadium.
