The vicious cycle of removing homeless people from public places continue as Law Enforcement and Task Team members conducts various operations in and around the Municipality to clear bedding and other possessions belonging to the homeless from parks, cliffs and along the coastline and on the mountain.

Like most parts of the Western Cape and the entire country, Overstrand has its fair share of the homeless who seek refuge in public spaces.

Usually accused of doing crime, authorities find themselves having to remove homeless people almost on daily basis from parks and also patrol the cliff paths on regular intervals to maintain visibility.

Homeless people sleeping in parks and or on streets find their way back to the same areas as they do not have anywhere to go.

    Overstrand Municipality

The Overstrand Law Enforcement and Task Team Assistant Chief, Johan du Toit is advising residents to report vagrants sleeping in open areas; illegal dumping and camping on 028 313 8980 or 028 313 8000/8111. Residents can also send email to enquiries@overstrand.gov.za
