The Zimbabwe Constitutional Court has dismissed the opposition MDC Alliance petition challenging declaration of ED Mnangagwa the winner of the elections held on 30 July 2018.

ED Mnangagwa will remain the President and Media reports from Zimbabwe indicated that military helicopters were seen Friday morning over Zimbabwe’s skies in apparent preparations for his inauguration.

The Country’s Electoral Commission declared Mnangagwa the winner of the poll held on 30 July 2018, but the opposition MDC Alliance leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has maintained that the elections were rigged.

Zimbabwe’s Chief Justice Luke Malaba on Friday 24 August 2018, dismissed with costs, the MDC Alliance application after criticising the opposition for failing to backup their challenge with evidence.

In the final analysis, the court finds the applicant has failed to place before it clear, direct, sufficient and credible evidence… Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is duly declared winner of presidential elections held on the 30th of July 2018.

The Zimbabwean Electoral Commission’s Utoile Silaigwana was quoted as saying ‘as the commission they have conducted the elections in a professional and transparent manner.’It remains to be seen what the opposition next move will be.
