Myriads of the Zimbabwean upbeat avid supporters of ED Mnangagwa thronged and teemed into 60 000 seater National sports stadium in Harare Sunday 26 August 2018 with much rhapsody and euphoria to witness the inauguration of the second executive president of Zimbabwe Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.

Mnangagwa was firstly sworn in on 24 November 2017 after a soft and bloodless coup which resulted in former President Robert Mugabe resigning as head of State.

The inauguration comes after the much disputed 31 July 2018 elections which Mnangagwa won with 50,8%, beating opposition’s MDC Alliance’s Advocate Nelson Chamisa with 44,3%.

The MDC Alliance lawyers filed a petition in the Constitutional court in Zimbabwe on 10 August 2018 challenging the Country’s Electoral Commission proclamation that Mnangagwa had won the elections. The party alleged that the elections were rigged.

The Court judgement declared and endorsed Mnangagwa as the winner of the elections, proclaiming that there was not much convincing evidence that elections were rigged and the MDC alliance petition was dismissed with costs.
