Police in the Eastern Cape have arrested a 47 year old male foreign national and a 36 year old female in an intelligence driven operation targeting large scale drug dealing and distribution across the Eastern Cape and other provinces.

According to the Police, the arrests followed a raid on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, after authorities received information about a foreign national allegedly orchestrating drug distribution from a base in Quigney, KuGompo.

“Members of the SAPS Crime Prevention unit intercepted a white Toyota Corolla near King Phalo Airport in the early hours of the operation. A search of the vehicle’s occupants revealed narcotics.”

Officers then proceeded to a flat at Kennaway Court in Quigney, where the primary suspect consented to a search of the premises. “Authorities discovered a substantial quantity of drugs and cash during the search.”

The combined street value of the seized drugs is estimated at approximately R19,311,000. The exhibits included:

    • Boss Mandrax tablets valued at R1,240,000
    • Cocaine valued at R18,000,000
    • Rock/Crack valued at R18,000
    • Crystal Meth (TIK) valued at R13,000

Investigators also confiscated R77,340 in cash believed to be proceeds of illicit activities.

Both suspects are expected to appear soon in the KuGompo Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession and dealing in drugs.

“This successful operation is a testament to the effectiveness of our intelligence-driven approach and the seamless collaboration between our specialized units,” said Lieutenant General Vuyisile Ncata, Provincial Commissioner of the Eastern Cape. “We are sending a clear message that the long arm of the law will reach those who seek to poison our communities with illicit drugs, regardless of the scale of their operation.”
