The Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements and Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Uhuru Moiloa together with Executive Mayor of Mogale City Local Municipality, Patrick Lipudi and MMC for Human Settlements, Anna Setswalo-Moja, handed Government built houses to 55 beneficiaries at Kagiso Extension 13.

One of the beneficiaries, Matlakala Chiloane (63 Years) could not hold her tears as she was giving a speech about how grateful she was for a new house.

I had to rebuild the shack on several occasions as it was destroyed by fires. I am very happy that my children have a place they can call home.

Speaking during the handover on Monday 25 March 2019, Moiloa said it brought him great pleasure to see most disadvantaged Gauteng residents gaining their dignity back.

We will continue to restore the dignity of our people one by one. More of our disadvantaged communities who live in unbearable conditions will benefit from the many Mega Human Settlements projects we’re constructing across the province.

Moiloa further said that the Kagiso Extension 13 project will yield more than 800 units which will help them relocate more residents from Tudor Shaft informal settlement.

However, our people continue to take us back and make it seem like we haven’t done anything at all, because when we relocate a certain number, their shacks are being occupied by more people who also want a government house.
