Deputy President David Mabuza will on Friday, 24 August 2018, deliver a keynote address at the National Men’s Summit in Durban under the auspices of the South African National AIDS Council’s (SANAC) “Takuwani Riime” Men’s Movement.

Organized by the Men’s Sector of the SANAC Civil Society Forum in partnership with the Department of Social Development and other organisations, the National Men’s Summit and Expo will take place from the 24th – 26th August 2018 in Ballito, near Durban in the KwaZulu Natal Province.

As the SANAC Chairperson, Deputy President Mabuza will address the summit on the opening day where he will encourage the further support to the initiatives that address the role of men in combating the spread of HIV, TB and STIs as well as mitigating the impact of the diseases in our community.

The Men’s Summit will bring together men and boys representing various sections of society from across the country to seek lasting solutions against gender-based violence, toxic masculinity, discrimination and femicide, as well as empower and educate men on human rights.

The Men’s Summit is organized under the banner of “Takuwani Riime” (a Venda expression meaning “let us stand up together”) which is a consortium of organisations working with men and boys to tackle various social challenges such as gender-based violence.
