Zimbabwean Media are reporting that one of the Country’s senior political leaders, Tendai Biti has formally arrived in Lusaka where his application for political asylum will be formalised.
Reports indicated earlier that Biti had been arrested by Zimbabwean authorities at the Zimbabwean-Zambian border while trying to cross over into the neighbouring country to seek asylum. He has reportedly been in hiding after the police in Zimbabwe charged him and other opposition leaders with inciting post election violence which left at least three people dead.

Biti and other leaders declared the opposition MDC Alliance a winner of the recent Elections despite calls from the authorities and Election monitors to refrain from doing so. Zimbabwe was marred with violence after initial reports indicated that opposition parties have lost and subsequently, the blame for the violence was put at the opposition door.
