To date, over 1300 cases of diarrhoea have been reported in health facilities especially within Mbombela Municipality


The Mpumalanga Provincial Government says it is working hard to deal with diarrhoea outbreak in Ehlanzeni region.

The government has indicated that to date, 1300 cases of the outbreak have been reported in health facilities, especially within Mbombela Municipality. In a statement released Wednesday 08/08/2018, the Provincial Government says it is concerning that the infection seems to be moving from one area to the other.

Amidst continuous water testing and uncertainty regarding regarding the source of the outbreak, the Government has called on Citizens to practice safe hygiene.

While the source of this alarming diarrhoea outbreak has not yet been identified, water tests are continuously being conducted by Ehlanzeni District Municipality, Department of Water and Sanitation as well as the City of Mbombela repetitively on a daily basis.

The Government has furthermore called on Citizens to remain calm as it is ‘satisfied that there are not deaths related to the current outbreak.
