It took six years but at last Mamelodi residents whose houses were damaged by hail storm in 2013, will have their roofs fixed ‘in the next financial year.’
Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements and Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Uhuru Moiloa said this during the Post-SoPA Ntirhisano at Mamelodi’s Rethabile Sports Ground.
Moiloa told residents that he has instructed the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) to do structural assessment of all the houses that were damaged during the 2013 hail storm and those that are built on wetlands.
Once the NHBRC gives its report to the Department, we will then allocate a budget in the next financial year to fix those roofs that were hit and damaged by a hail storm.

According to Moiloa, a mobile office will be opened for those who were affected by hail storm, to register their details for their roofs to be fixed.
Moiloa further told residents that as government they are looking at approving a housing project at Nellmapius Extension 26, which ‘will yield close to 15 000 units’ for the people.
As part of the Ntirhisano Programme, more than 530 residents in Mamelodi were handed their title deeds by Moiloa assisted by ward Councillors from the area.
