The Witzenberg Municipality is asking the community to conserve water as water shortage continues in the Western Cape.

According to the information provided by the municipality there is currently:

5 Months worth of water supply in the Koekedouw and 4 months in Tulbagh.

Consumers are asked to spare water as they are using more than what the Municipality has targeted.

Consumers in the Ceres, N’Duli, Bella Vista and Prince Alfred’s Hamlet are using water at a rate of 9.2 mega litres per day and the target for our usage is at 8.3 mega litres per day.

Furthermore the municipality has appealed to the community to minimise usage of boreholes as that can affect the water table in the long term.

Our Municipal Borehole usage, which compliments the raw water supply from the Koekedouw Dam, has decreased from 24% to 12% for the week ending 17 May 2018.

Consumers are urged to contact the Municipality Water and Sewerage department on (023) 316 1854 for more information.
