Police in the Northern Cape have arrested Five suspects following theft of Transnet contact cables worth R150 000-00 near Windsorton.
According to the Police Media Release, the alleged theft happened on the night of Monday, 23 August 2021.
On Wednesday, 25 August 2021 at about 05:30 the team spotted a suspicious looking Orange Ford Wildtrack bakkie close to Christiana and started following it onto the N12 North.
The bakkie started speeding off and the team contacted Wolmaransstad SAPS who intercepted the suspects in their area. The bakkie was stopped and searched and 400 kg of contact cables, two bolt cutters, 3 wooden droppers with rubber bands was found on the vehicle.
The five male suspects were arrested and police also confiscated the bakkie as it was allegedly utilized in the commission of crime.
