President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation at 20h00 this evening, Saturday 15 August 2020, on developments in South Africa’s risk-adjusted strategy to manage the spread of COVID-19.
The President’s address follows a meeting earlier this week of the National Coronavirus Command Council and meetings today of the President’s Coordinating Council and Cabinet.
Ramaphosa is expected to announce moving the current lockdown level a notch down from level 3 to level to 2, a move which will further open up some industries and ease the battering of an economy which has taken a beating since South Africa went into lockdown about five months ago.
Chief amongst what remains to be seen from Ramaphosa’s address tonight is if alcohol and liquor ban will be lifted.
