    Limpopo Police arrest suspects for various crimes

    Limpopo Police have arrested suspects for various crimes in the fight against trio crimes. In Makhado outside Thohoyandou, a 40-year-old man was arrested for possession of counterfeit money at the local filling station.

    He was arrested following a tip-off from members of the community about a vehicle which was carrying the alleged counterfeit money from Madombidzha village to Makhado town.

    A swift reaction by the Police, led to the alleged car being spotted and searched. According to Police Statement, the counterfeit money amounting to R179 200-00 and 149 300-00 US dollars was recovered and the Mercedes Benz vehicle which was used by this suspect was also confiscated.

    Meanwhile, the Intelligence-led joint operation “Quite Storm” composed of the Police in Phalaborwa, the Crime Intelligence and the Rhino 9 members was conducted in the Namakgale Policing area. During this operation, a 41 year old woman was  arrested for possession of suspected stolen properties and the following items were seized : two(02) plasma TV’s, two (02) computers, one(01) DVD player, one (01) Micro wave, two (02) amplifier audio, four (04) camping chairs, one (01) cooler box, seven (07) electric extensions.

    In Lulekani, outside Phalaborwa, four (04) suspects aged between 16 and 26 were apprehended for murder and carhijacking. Their arrest emanated from an incident where they allegedly hijacked a man, killed him and thrown his body in the Letaba river. The deceased’s hijacked Toyota Tazz was also recovered.

    The arrested suspects during these operations will soon appear before the Louis Trichardt, Namakgale and Lulekani Magistrate Courts respectively.
