New Zealand Police were Wednesday, 1 August 2018 called to Taranaki Base Hospital after receiving reports of gun shots being heard.
According to Police Senior Sergeant Jeff Veale, a man was injured in an altercation and received treatment at the hospital.
At this stage we believe the parties are known to each other and for that reason, don’t believe there is any risk to the public.
The Police have started efforts to locate the other men who had already left the scene by the time the police arrived. The hospital was operating normal.
