The South African U17 Women’s National Team (Bantwana), is back in camp to prepare for the second leg of their 2nd and final round of the 2018 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Bantwana held their first training session in wet conditions at the Nike Training Centre in Pimville, Soweto.

South Africa travel to Morocco to face the host nation on Saturday, 17 February 2018 at Stade Boubker Aamar in Sale.

Bantwana take a healthy 5-1 lead from the first leg played last weekend (Sunday, 4 February) at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Head coach Simphiwe Dludlu has selected a squad of 20 players that will do duty against the North Africans, but they will be without midfield workhorse Karabo Dlamini, who was red carded in the first leg.

Dlamini scored two goals in the match, with the other three coming from Thambolinye Mzoneli, Miche Minnies and Sphumelele Shamase.

The South Africans will have two training sessions in South Africa (Sunday and Monday) before departing for Morocco on Tuesday, 13 February.

Bantwana is one of three African nations eyeing a spot at the 2018 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled for 13 November to 1 December in Uruguay.

In other encounters, Ghana, who enjoy a 9-0 first leg victory, welcome Djibouti on Sunday, 18 Februray, while it is going to be battle royale when Nigeria visit Cameroon in Yaounde on Saturday, 17 February – the first leg clash ended in a 2-2 stalemate in Benin City, Nigeria.

Winners of second round will represent Africa at the World Cup tournament.
