    Manenberg man arrested for copper cables possession

    The Police, Private security company and other law enforcement agencies on Monday, 28 May 2018 arrested a 36 Year Old man from Manenberg on charges related to the possession of copper cables and the damage and theft of Prasa Infrastructure.

    The man was arrested after police and security agencies received information regarding an address in Jade Crescent, Manenberg, from where copper cables we’re being disposed.

    Law enforcement officers went to the address and found a 36 Year old man buddy stripping and disposing of copper cables. Several copper wires had been stripped out of their insulation casing, but could still be identified as part of Prasa rail infrastructure.

    The Police have estimated the damage from where the cables were stripped to be R200 000. The theft of copper cables have previously grounded trains in the Western Cape and anyone with information regarding cable theft and damage of Prasa Infrastructure is requested to contact Manenberg Police on 021 699 9400.The arrested man is expected to appear in court on charges related to the possession of copper cables and the damage and theft of Prasa Infrastructure.
