The French lads have booked and secured their place in the final of the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018. They will face either England or Croatia in Moscow on Sunday 15 July after thrashing Belgium 1-0 in Saint Pietersburg in their mouth watering semi-final.

Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti headed France into the World Cup final on the 51st minute, to send The Blues fans into a frenzy and incredible rhapsody. It is now a third time in the last six World Cups that France have reached the finals.

Didier Deschamps, who is currently the mentor and tactician of the young and talented Les Bleus; captained the French national team in the FIFA World Cup France 1998 and won it on their home soil.

Roberto Martinez’s Belgian side had lofty ball possession but they struggled to thwart the skilful Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann with their mesmerizing speed.

In the middle of the park the Belgium midfield was outmanoeuvred by Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante, the workaholic and effeverscent.

Hugo Lloris the French captain and stopper was the hero of the night on his outstanding and spectacular save in the first half to hinder Toby Alderweireld and saved Alex Witsel’s drive as the Belgian side mounted pressure towards the end of this thrilling encounter. The Belgium’s ‘golden generation’ was in an acrimony dismay as they were defeated.

England will clash with Croatia tonight in their semi-final encounter at 80 000-capacity Luzhniki Stadium ,Moscow seeking to reach their first World Cup final since 1966 against a background of near euphoria on home soil.
