    Three arrested in connection with Cape Town Attorney’s murder

    Members of the Police Anti-Gang Unit and detectives in Cape Town have today, 23 May 2019 arrested three suspects for their alleged involvement in the killing of a Khayelitsha court attorney.

    Cape Town Attorney, David Mbazwana was killed afternoon on Sunday 19 May 2019 in Eiland informal settlement, Makhaza, Khayelitsha.

    According to Police Captain FC Van Wyk, Mbazwana aged 38 was allegedly shot by unknown suspects and died on the way to hospital.

    Police have since launched a manhunt and made a breakthrough when they arrested the three suspects and recovered a CZ 75 firearm with the serial number removed which was loaded with 12 rounds of ammunition. Moreover police also seized 17 various assorted rounds of ammunition, seven packets of tik and 36 mandrax tablets.

    The three suspects aged 24, 30, 35 respectively are due to appear in Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court once charged.

    Two of them are facing the charges of possession unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of drugs while the other is facing a charge of possession of ammunition and possession of drugs.

    The Western Cape Provincial Commission, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula has expressed his gratitude towards the SAPS members who have executed this breakthrough while he strongly condemns the senseless killings in our communities.
