Calivinia: Northern Cape. Police have on Wednesday 22 May 2019 arrested a man who had been on the run following the rape of a 7 year old girl.
According to Police Captain Olebogeng Tawana, the girl was raped on Sunday, 19 May 2019. The girl was playing in her grandmother’s yard when the suspect grabbed and raped her under the tree.
The suspect fled the scene after the alleged rape. During the incident the victim, notably identified the suspect with his dreadlocked hair.

The suspect is facing a count of rape and is expected to appear before Calvinia Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 24 May 2019.
The Northern Cape Provincial Crime Detection Commander, Deputy Provincial Commissioner, Major General Koliswa Otola commended, the investigation team for promptly executing the arrest in this case.
We will stop at nothing to bring crime perpetrators to book and will continue to ensure that justice is served.
